The ITP Disco
Crikey, wedding discos are a bit of a minefield aren’t they? Trust your evening’s entertainment to someone else and you might end up with an unfortunate Brown Eyed Girl or Build Me Up Buttercup incident when all you really want is OUTSTANDING POP.
With that in mind, I decided that for my own nuptials I would make the entire disco ahead of time, which involved months of mixing, segueing and stitching to create something that would keep the dancefloor jumping for three and three quarter hours. And it worked! Of course I ended up dancing for the entire night (although to be honest I was striding around lip-syncing most of the time) and neglected my groomly meet ‘n’ greet obligations, but that’s awesome pop for you.
Highlights included my special edit of Hounds of Love which kicked off proceedings, a Vogue-off, a frankly very exciting mix of Situation into Don’t You Want Me, a cross-generational, multi-family and friends wig-out to Left to My Own Devices, Liza Minnelli getting more people on the floor than The Weeknd and a mass recreation of the Time After Time scene from Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion.
Ladies and gentlemen, for your listening ‘pleasure’, I present Cruel Summer Night City: A Wedding Disco by Into the Popvoid.
